Chris Pettus: Life and Values

What inspired you to become an attorney?
I joined the Marines when I was eighteen. Once of the first friends I made was an attorney in his early 30s who, despite having a family and having already “made it” decided to enlist and accomplish one of his dreams of being a Marine. As I learned more about the law, I found working in personal injury to be a fitting way to continue my desire to serve regular people.

Why did you choose to become a Personal Injury Lawyer?
I first started working in the personal injury field while still in law school. I was quickly drawn to helping people through what for many is one of the worst events of their life. I most enjoy getting to work for the benefit of regular people against insurance companies and large corporations.

What do you commit to doing for your clients?
I have had to represent my own mother in the past. My commitment to every client is that they will get the same treatment and attention to their case like I gave to my mom’s case. An important aspect of this to me is clear and honest communication.
I grew up in Winter Park, Florida. While still in grade school, my family moved to South Carolina (by way of Las Vegas). I have always had family in the area, so I spent most summers and holidays in Florida. Florida has always been home.
My wife, Mayra, and I put the best of ourselves into our daughter, Emilia.
Recently in my life I have become interested in “backyard gardening.” I especially enjoy growing my spicy chili peppers; the hotter, the better. I still enjoying traveling when possible, and I like to try new energy drinks in the countries I visit.
